Welcome to day two of the Squirt Training Camp Cup!

The Squirts had a great first day of the Training Camp Cup!  With a close field of competitors, the White team is edging out the Black and Blue after two of the three games yielded ties.  The White team being the only one coming out with a win. All of the games exhibited good passing and puck movement. Most of the goal production coming from the Blanchett, Hyland, Andrikonas, Papadopoulos, Basterdo, Malee, and Mena.  It’s a dead heat with all three teams and four days left. The level of competitiveness and teamwork for all three teams are shining through.

Lukas Andrikonis did win the mile yesterday with a time of 6:43. This was expected.  He did not break the mile record though. This is very typical at the Training Camp Cup.  Players do improve their conditioning, and generally take a lot of time off their mile times when they come back for a second week.  Other impressive times were Cole Hyland 7:03, Christian White 7:15, Nico Cortez 7:34, Alex Fuentes 7:39, Zach”Money”Maynard 7:55, and Training Camp Cup Rookie Alex Albergo.

Team Building

Both Black and Blue picked up a point in the Team Building Challenges.

Game Reviews

Game #1  Blue and White Tie 3-3

Elliot Bastedo opened the scoring just two minute into the game with a shot to the glove side.  Andrikonis countered two minutes later to even it up 1-1. Blue took a 3-2 lead with just over seven minute to play before Sydney”Peaches” Tinerella scored the game tying goal with 1:48 left on the clock.

Game #2 Black and Blue Tie 4-4

This was the game of the day!  End to end excitiment, with a fantastic finish.  Black would take the lead, and then Blue would answer with a goal to tie the game.  Blue finally took the lead with 7:44 seconds to play with an end to end rush by Miles”Smiles” Winkler.  Rookie Coach James Williams pulled his goalie, and was rewarded with a goal by Brennen Blanchett with :08 seconds left on the clock! Black goals were scored by Cole Hyland and Blanchett who had hat tricks in both of his games.  He is on pace to set the tournament goal record! Game #3  White beats Black 7-4

Black scored two quick goals by Brennen Blanchett to take an early 2-0 lead, but the game was dominated by white after that.  Elliot Bastedo scored his second goal of the tournament, Vito Menna, and Lucas White answered Blanchetts goals to give white a 3-2 lead.  Blanchett then scored one more to get his second hat trick of the day. TV Viewership

TV viewership was down from last year with only 21 viewers on Live Barn.  This is typical. Shockingly, one of those viewers was online watching from Greece.  I wonder who that might be? Viewership always goes up later in the week. TCC Communications director, Emily Imes, will be back from vacation next week, and will start our very own Youtube Channel.

Vegas Odds

Vegas does not set the tournament odds until Wednesday morning.
